This webinar event on Green Hydrogen at Industrial Scale for a Zero Carbon Future is organised by the Central European Office of Scottish Development International, the international business development agency of the Scottish Government. It will showcase the Scotland's potential to produce green hydrogen at scale for a zero-carbon future, as well as the related opportunities for companies from across Europe to explore projects and collaborations. Please note that the webinar will be held in English.
Clean hydrogen at scale with green or blue hydrogen is a key element in achieving the energy transition. However within some sectors there is currently greater focus on the use of green hydrogen, typically produced from renewable electricity by electrolysis of water. The demand for a competitive price per kilo and current lack of available green hydrogen at industrial scale of this ‘new’ clean energy resource means that economies of scale are yet to be achieved. However the growing industrial interest and an increase in demand is now driving a growing number of projects aimed at satisfying this need for green hydrogen at the required scale.

17:00 Concluding Remarks
For Germany it is expected that about 50% of green hydrogen demand will be met from imported hydrogen. Partnerships are being formed and already companies have begun to develop projects in Scotland to take advantage of the 300 GW of offshore wind potential estimated to be available in Scottish waters. This resource offers great potential as it is both close to the European market and of significant volume. It brings opportunities for new ventures, projects and collaborations.
Industrial off-takers and producers of green hydrogen are now looking around Europe for suitable locations where cost effective green hydrogen can be produced at scale. Find out why Scotland has one of the best ecosystems for the supply of green hydrogen to decarbonise the wider Europe economy.
